Do I need a Visa for India?
Yes yo do. For visits less than 60 days you can request an online visa in this page: indianvisaonline.gov.in this application will take less than a week and is suitable for all of our courses. There is no visa at arrival so be careful and request it in advance.
If you are planning to stay longer you should request a visa on your nearest embassy.
What kind of yoga will be taught?
Speaking about postures or asanas, our school will emphasize in traditional Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. Because yoga is much more than postures we will teach every aspect of the real Yoga such as ethics (Yama), internal behavior (Niyam), postures (Asana), breathing (Pranayama), relaxation (Pratyahara), meditation (Dharana and Dhyana) and more
Is India safe?
Our school is located in Rishikesh, India. This place is safe and peacefull for tourists you will not have to worry about your security during your stay.
However, if you are planning to go to other places you should follow thew advice of the place or company you are staying with. If you are a girl and travelling by yourself is always good to take extra precautions.
If you want to get to know Dehli, the Taj Mahal or other places, we can arrange airport pick-up, transportation and trustworthy tourism services.
Is it possible to arrange airport pick-up?
Yes it is. Normally students arrive from New Dehli or Dehradun Jollygrant Airport if you want an airport pick-up let us know.
What do I need to bring?
In Rishikesh there is nothing like a dress code you have to follow. So just bring comfortable clothes for the yoga practice. In the school we have yoga mats and other equipment so you don´t have to worry.
Be aware that for visiting some temples you will need clothes that cover your shoulders and long pants.
How is the weather?
There are three different seasons in Rishikesh:
Summer Season (March-June) :
These months constitute the summer season in Rishikesh where June is the hottest month with temperatures rising up to 35 °C. Expect a sunny weather with temperatures around 20 °C to 35 °C. Bring fresh clothes =).
Winter Season (October-February) :
These months constitute the winter season in Rishikesh and see an average temperature of 8°C to 24°C. January is the coldest month in Rishikesh and it is advisable to carry warm clothes.
Monsoon Season (July-September) :
These months constitute the winter season in Rishikesh and see an average temperature of 16°C to 26°C. Rainfall is normal at this time. Humidity is quite high and the temperature at the place gets down from the summer peaks.
What level of experience in yoga is required?
Everyone is invited to do all the courses even if they have none experience. Practicing is very important to become a competent teacher. We always advice at least 2 years experience before or after the course to start teaching groups.
In what language will the course be given?
The course will be giving in English only. Extra explanations can be giving in Hindi.
Are there any other activities to be done?
Rishikesh is known for its natural beauty and spritual importance. You will have free time to enjoy different adventures such as bungee jumping, rafting and hiking and visit spiritual places.
What is included on the price?
The price includes yoga lessons from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm according to the schedule of each program, studying material, yoga utilities, Yoga Alliance Certification, accomodation and all the meals.
What is not included?
Transport from the airport to the school, extra school activities, personal expenses, visas and flights.
Will I be able to be a yoga teacher after the course?
After the 2 week or 4 week courses you will have the certification of completion from Yoga Alliance. If you are an experienced student you will be able to become a Yoga Teacher if not, we recomend that you keep practicing for a while until you feel confident to teach.
You will need a certification of a yellow fever vaccine if you have traveled in the last 6 days before arrival to the following countries:
Africa: Angola, Benin. Burkina Faso, Burundi, Comeroon, Central African Republic, Chag, Congo, Cote d'Ivore, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopio, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leona, Sudan, South Sudan, Togo amd Uganda.
America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad (Trinidad only), Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
How do I arrive to the school?
Arrival by airplane
The nearest international airport is New-Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. For those who choose to continue their way by air, there are currently domestic flights to nearby Dehradun, operated by Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher. From there it is less than an hour drive by taxi to Rishikesh.
Arrival by bus
Buses to Rishikesh leave New-Delhi from the Kashmiri Gate National Bus Stand approximately every hour. The bus ride takes about 7-8 hours and costs around IRs.450 for A/C buses & IRs.250 for Non-A/C.
Arrival by taxi
Taxis are always available anywhere in India. The drive from Delhi to Rishikesh will take around 5 to 6 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
Arrival by train
The best option is to reach Haridwar Train Station, about 45 minutes away from Rishikesh by road on a driven taxi or the so called tuktuks. From Delhi, the train ride takes mostly between 5 to 8 hours, depending on the train. Haridwar is serviced by many trains from/to Delhi, Varanasi, Rajasthan, Amritsar, etc.
